Six Steps to More Thoughtful
Charitable Giving
Nearly three-quarters of all Americans will make donations to charitable causes this year. Most gifts come not from the wealthy, but from those with moderate incomes. Whether you donate for tax breaks, or to help a worthwhile cause, even modest donations can change a life or solve a problem. But how do you chose from among the 1.8 million registered charities in the US alone, and decide which to support and at what level? In this course, we’ll address issues such as:
- deciding what you want your charitable gifts to do
- deciding how much to give
- choosing between donating money, time or property
- whether to give locally, nationally or globally
- how to evaluate a request from an organization
- how to find out more about how a donation is being used
If you are interested in charitable giving, whether to increase your personal satisfaction or to save money on your federal tax bill, this workshop will show you the steps you need to begin creating your own charitable giving plan.
